1.      MAIN SERVERS/HARDWARE:

a)         a)    At present there are 17 Nos of SUN Servers installed at various locations of BCCL. The following applications under COALNET/ORACLE environment are at present operational at these servers:

·         Payroll,

·         Personnel Information System,

·         Financial Accounting System,

·         Cost Accounting System,

·         Materials management System,

·         Sales Billing & Accounting System,

·         Road Sales System etc.

 b)       b)    M/S ECIL (Electronics Corporation of India, Govt of India) had been maintaining the COALNET Package since last one year (upto 30-06-2010).

c)        c)    A Campus LAN is operational at BCCL HQ, Dhanbad covering about 350 users of Koyla Bhawan.

2.      OFFICE AUTOMATION : 

·         The company has provided 712 PCs at various offices for Computerised Jobs/Office Automation jobs like Word Processing, Spreadsheet based Calculations etc. More nos. of PCs will be gradually added to take care of demands due to reduction of clerical hands, need for communicating using E-Mails, File & Data creation and transfer etc.

·         At present BCCL HQ users have been provided with Internet facility through 10 MBPS BSNL Leased Line, Broad Band and Wireless Modem connectivity.

·         The data transfer from various Area Offices for consolidation at headquarters is gradually being changed to E-Mail attachments instead of media transfer.

·         We have also introduced Daily attendance recording system at Areas and transferring such data on daily basis through e-mail to HQ for consolidation purpose.

·         Daily despatch data from areas are being received through e-mail at S&M dept. HQ.

3.      WEB-SITE OF THE COMPANY:  

·         The company provides information for dissemination to public on its web-site. The Web-site has recently been given a face lift and the available information have been made more presentable & accessible. We are also in the process of providing more and more information to the concerned users/customers/public through our web site.

·         The BCCL is on the way to launch its web site on its own web server shortly.

4.      E-GOVERNANCE TYPE ACTIVITIES:

·         The BCCL is also offering Coal for sale through E-Auction taking help of the Service Providers.

·         The Road Sales module of COALNET Package has been recently modified to cater the need for e-auction, e-refund etc.

·         E-procurement has been started in BCCL.

5.      IMPORTANT PROJECTS IN HAND:

·         Our Holding Company Coal India Limited has formulated a strategy for Information Technology implementation in all the subsidiaries of CIL. The strategy envisages Centralized Data Center & ERP implementation up to Unit level through high speed Data network. The activities of ERP evaluation, Selection of System Integrator & finalization of technical specifications have commenced at CIL. The BCCL is committed to introduce this IT strategy in the company as soon as it is ready for implementation.

·         We have already taken steps for implementation of On-Line Materials Management System at all the Area Stores, Central Stores of BCCL.

·         We are also in the process of implementation of ON Line Finance Systems at 7 Area locations in Phase-I.

·         E-despatch at BCCL is going to be implemented.
