The Director (Personnel) looks after Administration, Manpower, Welfare, Industrial Relations, Medical,Human Resources Development and Training, and Legal and Management Information Systems.

Director (Tech.) Operations :  Sri. Rakesh Sinha

The Director (Tech.) Operations looks after Safety & Rescue, Material Management, E & M, Civil Construction, Central Survey, Sales & Marketing, Industrial Engineering and 6 Coal producing Areas of BCCL.

The Director (Tech.) P&P looks after Planning and Implementation of projects, Environment, Excavation, Estate, Geology & Drilling, Research & Development ( R&D), Science & Technology ( S&T),  Electrical and Mechanical Workshop, Washery Construction, Ropeways for sand winning & transportation and 7 Coal producing Areas of BCCL.

In addition to 4 Functional Directors, CMD is also assisted by Chief of Washeries and Chief General Manager ( Marketing & Quality Control ). Chief of Washeries looks after the 3 Washery Zones namely Eastern Washery Zone, Western Washery Zone and Madhuband Washery Zone. Chief General Manager ( Marketing & Quality Control) looks after sales and marketing of coal and coal products as well as quality. 

Staff functions

CMD is also assisted by Staff Officer to look after staff functions such as Vigilance, Central Industrial and Security Force, Co-ordination and Statistics, Board matters and Technical Secretariat.
